Lena’s Greenwich Kitchen

Greenwich, London, SE3

Outline

Lena came to Victoria Kitchens wanting to replace a kitchen that no longer worked for her. The room had been added to over the years rather than designed: dark oak doors, granite worktops, mismatched open shelving, a tall ceiling doing nothing for the space below it. She wanted to start again with something calmer, more coherent, and built to a standard that would last.

The brief came with one complication. The room needed structural work before any kitchen could go in, so the project had to be planned in two parallel tracks.

We designed and installed a German-engineered Rotpunkt kitchen in Terra Grey and Memory RI Oak, with Dekton worktops, integrated Liebherr cold storage, a Siemens induction hob with built-in downdraft, and a Caple wine cooler. The kitchen was manufactured to order in Germany and installed across 12 working days in December 2025.

The Vision

Lena’s brief was about subtraction as much as addition. She didn’t want a louder kitchen, she wanted a quieter one. Storage that made sense for how she actually cooks. A prep surface big enough to use without negotiating around three other things. Warmth without clutter.

Two constraints shaped the project from the start. The room is long and narrow, which ruled out a standard island layout. And the structural work needed before installation meant the kitchen had to be designed, ordered, and manufactured on a timeline that ran alongside her builder’s programme, not after it.

The 3D Blueprint

Bernard, our Senior Designer, worked through several layouts before settling on the final plan. A 2.19-metre by 1-metre island sits between two working runs, with 600mm overhangs at both ends for seating. It holds the Siemens ED851HQ26E induction hob with integrated downdraft extraction, which keeps the ceiling clear (no overhead extractor breaking up the room) and gives Lena a prep surface facing into the kitchen rather than into a wall.

The longer working run, 4.92 metres along one wall, holds the tall units and the Liebherr IRBd 5120 fridge and SIFNe 5128 freezer as a paired integrated column, with a Caple LEE500CW wine cooler in chalk white. The shorter run opposite, 1.78 metres, holds the sink.

For finishes, Bernard specified Rotpunkt’s 4615 Power SC range in Terra Grey with a Soft Coat finish across the doors and island, FM Terra Grey carcasses, and anthracite drawer boxes. Memory RI Oak on the tall units brings warmth back into a grey-led palette. Integrated XGE Terra Grey handle profiles keep the lines uninterrupted across every door and drawer.

Worktops in 20mm Dekton (Neural Textured Velvet) from Stone Sense, totalling 10.8 square metres across the room. A double-chamfered edge runs 11.9 metres around the exposed perimeter. A 100mm Dekton upstand runs 7.7 metres along both walls in place of a tiled splashback, so there are no silicone joints to discolour over time. LED strips beneath the wall units provide warm evening light.

The Result

Lena’s review:

“We chose Victoria Kitchens for our kitchen design and installation. The process was a bit complex because we needed building work before the kitchen could be installed. We also had to allow around three months for the German company to manufacture the kitchen. Bernard did an excellent job with the design, and the kitchen was delivered on schedule and efficiently installed by Stefan and the fitting team.”
