Outline

Jay and Melissa’s Charlton home was being extended to make room for the kitchen they had not had until now. They host often, and they wanted a room their friends and family would settle into for the evening.

They came to us for a kitchen that felt premium in the hand and calm in the room, with a large island at the centre of it.

We designed and installed a Rotpunkt kitchen in walnut, with Dekton worktops and a glass-fronted dresser.

The Vision

Stefan and Simona, who founded Victoria Kitchens, met Jay and Melissa at the Woolwich Road showroom. The brief was simple: a kitchen that would hold a crowd without feeling like one, and a room that would still feel right on a quiet morning.

The extension gave Bernard, our Senior Designer, a clean canvas. No walls to work around, no layout to inherit. The work was in getting the proportions right, so the room felt generous to one person and ready for thirty.
Bernard built the kitchen around a large central island. The hob was set into the island with downdraft extraction, so nothing breaks the line of the worktop, and Dekton runs the length of it in one calm surface.

The longer run holds the cooking and storage. Two ovens sit stacked at eye level, with the fridge and freezer paired alongside as a full-height column. The cabinetry is walnut, with brass bow handles and a soft matt interior.

Facing the island, Bernard placed a dresser with glass-fronted upper cabinets in an industrial black frame. It gives the room something to look at from the other side, and a place to display the things the family actually use.

The Result

The install was led by Vanya, and Ruslan, who delivered the kitchen across 14 working days. The room was ready in time for the family’s first Christmas in their new bespoke kitchen.

Jay and Melissa ended up loving their new Charlton kitchen!
