Outline

Roger and Julia’s kitchen sat in the basement of their 19th-century Greenwich home, and it had quietly fallen out of step with the house around it. The old white units, the tiled border, the hob marooned mid-counter: all of it belonged to another decade.

They wanted calm. A room that felt like the rest of their home, not a leftover from before they moved in.

So we gave them one. Soft green below, a paler tone above, oak shelving warming the corner. A kitchen that finally feels like it has always been there.

The Vision

Roger and Julia did not ask for more. They asked for less.

Less on display. Fewer surfaces fighting each other. A kitchen that let the old house breathe instead of talking over it.

Bernard, our Senior Designer, started where they cook and entertain rather than with a catalogue. The original terracotta floor stayed, worn and warm and full of history, and everything new was drawn to sit gently around it.

The 3D Blueprint

Bernard wrapped the kitchen around three walls, so wherever Roger or Julia stand, the worktop is already there.

The cooking happens along the back, clean and uninterrupted, with nothing hanging overhead to break the calm. The sink sits under the window, where the washing-up comes with a view. The far corner softens into oak, a place for books and a bottle or two, the part of the room that invites you to slow down.

Two tones, two textures, one room that finally holds together.

The Result

Our team stripped out the old kitchen, worked carefully around the original floor, and rebuilt the room from the ground up.

The work ran calmly through the autumn, with the last snags settled in December. By handover it looked like it had grown there: quiet, warm, and ready for the next chapter of the house.

Feedback

In Roger's own words...

After dithering for more than two decades over replacing our kitchen in the basement of a 19th century house, Julia and I had Victoria Kitchens do the job. They were excellent to deal with, had a wide range of products and ideas on offer, and could mock up designs with CAD. Stefan, Simona and their designer Bernard strive for a great job, are very receptive, and are supremely professional, practical and passionate. Most of all, in a process that stretched from our first visit in August to installation in November and snagging in December, they have been a pleasure to deal with.

Bottom line, we found out first hand why using a single company for your entire kitchen installation offers convenience, expertise, and time savings. We would highly recommend them.
